Compasses

Three standalone diving compasses: the Standard compass (SKU 522100), the Mini compass (SKU 522200), and the Compass with holster (SKU 522300). All three use a liquid-filled compass card stabilised for use at depth. The compass with holster includes a mounting holster for wrist or BCD strap attachment.

The Standard compass (SKU 522100) is a full-size diving compass with a north-seeking liquid-filled card, lubber line for heading reference, and a rotating bezel for setting a reciprocal bearing. It is mounted in a compass housing compatible with console integration or standalone carry. The Mini compass (SKU 522200) uses the same mechanism in the compact Mini housing format, appropriate for Combo 2 compass mini console integration and for standalone carry where a smaller unit is preferred. The Compass with holster (SKU 522300) includes a hard holster with a strap mount — the holster attaches to the wrist, forearm, or BCD shoulder strap and allows the compass to be deployed in a fixed, always-accessible position for navigation-focused diving.

What to Look For

  • Console integration vs. standalone carry. If the compass is to be used in a Combo 2 compass or Combo 3 console, the Mini compass is the correct size. The Standard compass integrates into Standard console housings. The compass with holster is designed for standalone wrist or BCD mounting rather than console integration.
  • Holster compass for navigation diving. Divers who navigate by compass bearings regularly — wreck divers, cave divers, drift divers, instructors — benefit from the wrist-mounted compass holster format, which keeps the compass at the wrist and allows heading checks without bringing a console to eye level. The holster mount is more practical than a console compass for active navigation tasks.
  • Liquid fill stability check. A correctly functioning liquid-filled compass card should move smoothly, settle quickly to magnetic north, and show no persistent bubble in the liquid. A bubble that does not disappear indicates that the liquid has partially evaporated through a seal failure — the compass accuracy is unaffected initially but the bubble will grow over time. Instruments with a persistent bubble should be replaced.
